Advanced Orthopedic & Soft Tissue Surgery
Now Available In-House at Alicia Pet Care Center
At Alicia Pet Care Center, we’re committed to staying on the cutting edge of veterinary medicine—and that includes offering the most advanced surgical options available. We’re thrilled to have a partnership with board-certified veterinary surgeon Dr. Eich, which now allows us to offer complex orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries right here at our hospital in Mission Viejo, CA.
This means less outside referrals, traveling to different hospitals, and significant cost savings for our clients—plus the comfort of knowing your pet is being treated by a specialist in a familiar setting.
Advanced Surgical Services Offered Now Offered In-House
1. TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy)
Used to treat: Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) injuries
TPLO surgery stabilizes the knee joint after a CCL tear (the canine equivalent of an ACL injury in humans). By changing the angle of the tibia, this advanced procedure removes the need for the CCL altogether—helping your dog return to normal activity with less arthritis risk in the future.
2. Medial Patellar Luxation (MPL) Surgery
Used to treat: Kneecap dislocation (luxating patella)
Common in small breeds, MPL causes the kneecap to shift out of place, leading to limping, pain, and joint degeneration. MPL surgery realigns the kneecap, stabilizes the joint, and restores function.
3. CCL Repair (Lateral Suture Technique)
Used to treat: Cranial Cruciate Ligament tears in small to medium dogs
This less invasive technique stabilizes the knee using a synthetic ligament placed outside the joint. It’s ideal for pets that aren’t candidates for TPLO and offers excellent recovery outcomes.
4. Tendon Repair Surgery
Used to treat: Tendon ruptures or lacerations
Whether due to trauma or chronic degeneration, tendon injuries can severely impact your pet’s mobility. Dr. Eich performs precision repairs to restore limb function and help your pet heal with full range of motion.
5. Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO)
Used to treat: Hip dysplasia, Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease, and severe hip arthritis
FHO involves removing the head of the femur to eliminate bone-on-bone contact in a diseased or damaged hip joint. It’s often a pain-relieving option for small to medium dogs and cats who aren’t ideal candidates for total hip replacement.
6. Fracture Repair
Used to treat: Broken bones from trauma or injury
We now offer in-house fracture stabilization using surgical plates, screws, or pins to promote proper bone healing. With expert surgical care and post-op support, your pet’s recovery begins right here with our trusted team.
